This post is particularly geared to the “newbie” Internet Marketer. I received a call last night from a company offering me SEO (Search Engine Optimization) services. So I figured what the heck. I’ll give a listen.
SEO is a powerful tool in getting Organic Search traffic from the search engines. It is also, another one of those “art form” items that you have to learn, study, and grow into, and maintain on a regular basis. So if there is a company out there that will legitimately help my sites with SEO, at a reasonable rate, well I’m all for that.
The company that called is USA SEO Pros. They are apparently based in Las Vegas. Now, the first thing I want you to note is the fact that I
make their name into a clickable link,
. I do NOT want you to go there!
“Let me tell you a story bout a man named Jed, a poor marketeer, who wasn’t stupid in the head.”
These folks from USASP are your typical Internet Predators. They are out there hawking pipe dreams with a super slick sales pitch, and just waiting for the unsuspecting Newbie to whip out that credit card. I’ll probably get blasted in my email, and comment section for writing this up, but I really don’t care. You my reader are what is important to me. It is important that you know the truth.
First a young lady gave me a smooth, rapid paced sales promo over the phone, and had me visiting websites to check them out at the same time.
First lesson. Just because they can take you to web pages that they “say” are their customers, means nothing. I can set up a dummy account, load up a nice fake web page with lots of clickable content, for minimal cost, and even less time.
As soon as this young lady was done with her pitch, she suddenly had to “go check something out”. And what a “treat” I was in for, as her boss, the VP of marketing with the company, just happened to be free, and wanted to talk to me personally. Oh goodie, goodie!!
So I get handed off to the “closing artist”. He goes into his spiel. While I half listened to him, I was checking him out on a site that I will give you a link to. Rip Off Reports.com. Bingo!! Look at the rip off reports that pop up on this company!! “Danger Will Robinson! Danger!”
So Mr. Sales Pro, finally winds it up to the money pitch. He is going to sell me 40 targeted keywords at a super discounted rate. They are usually over $ 6,000.00, but if I buy it now, I can get them for only, $ 3,900.00. Man what a STEAL of a deal!
On top of that, I was Guaranteed the Number 1 Ranked Spot on ALL search engines. And better still, NOBODY else could use these keywords.
You know, If I can buy these keywords, for 4 grand, why that’s the same as buying words from Webster’s Dictionary. I bought them, I own them and none of the rest of you can use them. Nah, Nah, Nah!! What a truckload of horse S#*T.
I think you are beginning to see the picture here. No one can sell you keywords, same as no one can sell you any word of any kind. They are owned by the world. No one can guarantee you the number one spot in Organic Searches on ANY search engine, let alone EVERY search engine. Things change every day. Each engine has its own little quirks. You might hit top spot for a few days, on a couple of them, and then slip down a bit for a few days. The very BEST that you can strive for is to be consistently in the top 10. That is the first page. Period. If you are doing that, you’re in the money zone for sure.
There are legitimate companies out there that can help you with your sites SEO. But these legitimate companies are not going to try to sell you things that no one can own.
Stick to your Mothers good advice. If a thing sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Here Is To Your Total Success!!!
