Leading with Integrity, Honesty, and Commitment
Let’s dig into the dark places. Let’s dig into the places you might not want to share with others. Do you hold back on your downline? Are you afraid that if you teach them your “REAL” secrets, that they might actually succeed, and “God Forbid”, surpass your achievements? If this is your style of Leadership then please tell me your name, so that if I encounter you, I can run screaming into the night rather than get sucked into following you simply because you have “Charm”.
There are many, many Hucksters in the world, that get by on Charm alone. The problem is, they must be continually on the move. Here for a fleeting moment, then on to another big Idea, grand Scheme, the next Million Dollar Project. That is how you spot them. Constantly moving, hopping, and flip flopping.
Myself, I believe in Leadership by example. That example is just as the title of this post states. Integrity, Honesty, and Commitment. Leading with Integrity. The first true sign of a leader. What is Integrity? It is standing for something. An Ideal. High moral standards, and a virtuous intent.
Next we have Honesty. Who needs a definition for Honesty? If you do, then again, give me your name so I can run screaming from you. Honesty is being truthful with yourself, and with others.
Then we have Commitment. You must be commited to those looking to you for leadership. You must commit your time, to help them achieve success. You must commit your heart to caring that they succeed along with you.
How do you acheive these goals? It’s simple. If a prospect, becomes a member of your downline, then they have just become a member of your business family. They are looking to you for guidance while traveling the paths of new territory. Call them on a regular basis. Don’t sit back and say to yourself, “Well they haven’t called me, so it all must be cool with them”.
” Hi Jan, I just wanted to check in with you to see how you’re making out so far. What have you been doing? Still having trouble with “This or That”. Maybe you should try doing “A and B”, that has worked for me before, and it is easy to do. Here are the steps.”
That folks, is what a true LEADER does.
“Oh, Hi Jan. No I’ve got a few minutes, what’s on your mind? Ok, I can help you with that. Have you done, this, that and the other? You need to do that first, then plan B will be a lot clearer to you. You know, Jan, I have had a couple others having trouble with that this week. I think I will make that our topic for this weeks training call. We can all go through it step by step. What do you think?”
Again, a mark of a true leader. Willing to take the time to explain how things are done. Ready to reach out, and explain as much as possible, to as many as possible, so that everyone stays on the same path, and is working towards the same goal. SUCCESS!!
“Hi Bob. I am glad you contacted me about becoming one of my team. No you’re not going to make a million bucks in the next 24 hours. I’d have a beach house in the Bahamas if that could be done. You CAN make a lot of great money doing this, but YOU have to make the commitment to spend the time learning the business, spend money on training and advertising, and work at it diligently at least 20 hours a week, in order to succeed. Are you ready to make those commitments?”
(Thanks to Jaime Marales for that last bit. Check out his video regarding this:) Jaime Morales.
Let’s set the record straight. You will not succeed, (at least for very long) if your goal and your mind set is to make money “Off of” your downline. In order to be a successful Leader in MLM, your main priority is to empower your downline to succeed. You do this through regular contact, regular training, and not trying to sell them on your next great escapade every time you decide to branch out. Leading your downline, you have to think, “Where is this person at right now? What was I doing at this point? Are they ready for another opportunity? Have they mastered, and are succeeding at the opportunities they have already partnered with me in? If not, how can I help them to succeed in the systems they are currently in?
This is the mark of true leadership. This should be your main goal. Your main focus. If your downline succeeds, then you automatically succeed. Right? I mean, that is just that much more residuals coming into your account through the successful effort of others. And so on, and so on, and so on. I hope this makes sense to you, and leads you to concentrate on the success of your downline, rather than the success of your personal Piggy Bank.
