(Handling Rejection In Your MLM Business)

Face it. Rejection feels like a slap in the face. If your sales pitch gets thrown back in your face, it stinks. Period. Yet this is the only thing in Network marketing that will actually build your Success Muscles in the MLM Business. Many folks can’t handle it. They don’t even want to talk about it.

The slap that you feel, must motivate you to create a personal system of emotional management and understanding that will allow you to succeed in the face of seemingly endless NO’s. You have to move past the negatives in this business. Make a list of what you do most often when rejection occurs. What helps you identify steps you can take to change it? Can you change it?

Most of us can usually shrug it off to a bad day. We can even take it when it happens at the beginning of the sales pitch. Like when you’re cold calling leads. When the first two say “No, thank you!” in an unpleasant fashion, you shrug it off, right? But when it gets to the Twentieth time you hear it, you start to feel dejected. “Man, When did I begin to lose them”?

In every relationship there are going to be touch and go moments. Maybe it’s when you’re closing the deal that you most frequently lose the prospect. That is always upsetting. You’ve spent your time and invested your knowledge on getting the lead. You’ve worked up to the sales pitch then BAM! No Thank You! The deal just went away. It’s upsetting.

No one likes losing the investment they’ve made in the person with they are working to develop a business partnership with. It sucks and it is not easy to accept. Especially if you’ve gotten deep into the relationship. Guess what? You don’t have to like it. All you have to do is either change it or live with it. You also need to think about why you believe that person’s rejection was so important to your efforts. Is it really?

Yeah, you’ve invested long and hard bringing in that prospect. What makes this important? Is it the money it would have made you? Probably not. Typically the rejection is more difficult to deal with because we read too much into it. You start to think it was not just rejection of the business offered, or the product you are selling. You begin thinking that, in some basic way, it’s a rejection of you personally. Here are 2 very important truths you need to drill into your head. Ready?

1) People Never Reject You. They only reject themselves.

Truth is, they are simply rejecting themselves from the possibility of Success in their life. It is NOT about you, or anything to do with you. It is simply them rejecting Success in their life as they have been taught to do, compared to the MLM Success message you have. Period. Some people will NEVER see themselves as Successful, and because of that, no matter what you do, say, or think, some folks will reject themselves and stop that from ever happening in their life. They are pre-programmed early in life to do this.

They simply do not want to experience their pre-anticipated disappointment of not succeeding. They have felt so much of it already in their life. It would only validate again what they grew up hearing and experiencing. Their lack of Success is inevitable. Many times, deep down inside, they do not want you to succeed either. They are afraid you will leave them behind.

Is this Brutal? Yes.

Is this Sad? Yes.

Is this the Truth? Absolutely.

When people start telling you “NO” in the MLM business, you have got to understand that most of them are NOT telling YOU No. They are saying NO to themselves. No to the potential Success they could have. No to the possibility of an Extraordinary future. It is NOT just about MLM or network marketing. It’s about anything that offers some type of Entreprenurial Success.

They believe that their life has no other options except what they are living now. No matter how good your network marketing business sounds. They are not open to any other possible life or future. They have closed their minds to the possibility of Success.

2) There is NO SUCH THING as REJECTION. There is only DECEPTION.

Many people that you will talk to about your MLM Business, have been DECEIVED into believing that Success is for others but not for them. Success is something that is not a normal part of their makeup. Success, they believe, is only for those lucky few. Once again, they were programmed to believe this, and what they were taught was taught by people who learned to expect the same out of life. It is a generational conditioning.

They will listen to your presentation. Many times you’ll feel like they are “with you.” But they are just going through the motions. They did not get the message you communicated, or the info. They were listening, but did not HEAR. Their “I Lack” conditioning and programming was dominating the moment. Many folks are deceived into believing that they are powerless to do anything else. They live a “normal life,” and accept what life gives them, and can’t reach for anything more in life.

They have learned a three part formula:

1) Instruction – 2) Deception – 3) Acceptance.

Instructed at an early age that Massive Success is for others, not them, they end up being deceived from the truth of what could be in their life. And then they end up accepting it as their “lot in life”, and the only life they could ever live. Then, you show up, with your dreams, hopes, desires, and excitement about your MLM business. They end up telling you NO. In reality, are telling themselves NO. And once again, they walk away from a very possible, “could be Successful” life. This is not the first time they have ever done this, nor will it be the last.

Take the time to change your attitude about what rejection really means to you and to your business. It is important. Find out what you might be doing incorrectly. Don’t take rejection personally. What can you learn to change in how you handle a prospect? Ask colleagues to rate you in the various parts of your pitch. Ask them to be honest. You too need to use that quality. Be honest with yourself about what you don’t know. Give yourself the opportunity to learn from it and to grow, both personally and in your Internet marketing business.

Finally, you must understand that typically it has nothing to do with you, but EVERYTHING to do with the prospect and how they see life, and themselves living it. As a network marketer, you need to pour hope into their life. Encourage them. A true MLM professional will always encourage people who live with an attitude of “Lack” and “Mediocrity”.

It really does not matter that they have told you NO. They still can become a customer. Don’t toss them aside forever. Put them into your “I’ll get back to you at a better time” file. If they do not ever become a customer, that is fine also. They are simply denying themselves of a great opportunity to change their lives for the better.

What?? You mean to tell me you can’t juggle Chainsaws!!!!

Hey, don’t worry. Very few people can. The same concept applies to your online business as well.
There is no doubt that the best way to make a living at Internet Marketing is through multiple streams of income.
The problem is that too many people jump into the market thinking they have to start out with as many marketing opportunities as they can. Then they spend all of their time, money and energy just juggling these chainsaws, and hoping not to get a part cut off. 97% of the time, this is going to result in catastrophic failure for your business(es).
The other 3%? These are the folks who are following the golden rule to beginning internet marketing:

“Learn, Earn, and Expand”

Learn:
The ins and outs of marketing. Find out what YOUR strengths are and build upon those strengths. Sharpen your skills until they become second nature to you. Become knowledgable about every aspect of your product or opportunity. Use your strongest, most comfortable for you ability as your primary marketing tool. Once you do this, you will then be ready to move on to the next step. Wearing a pink tutu on a unicycle. (Oh, wait, that was me after a couple drinks at the office party.)The next step is Earning.

Earn:
Now is the time to monetize your website. You have learned the skills. You have taken steps to get your name out there. Now it is time to utilize those skills, and your “strongest ability” to market your product or opportunity. Now it’s time to let your light shine. Some folks are good at PPC campaigns. Others are good at building lists. Some are great in front of a camera, and yet others (like myself) prefer the written word. No matter what your personal skill is, use it!If you are confident in yourself, and confident in your skills, others will see that confidence, and begin to recognize you as an authority in your personal area of marketing. When you offer value and leadership to your prospects, the earnings will come along as a natural result. OK now is the time! Time for that tutu! (dang it, that was that party again, sorry). Now is the time you can “Begin” to take somes steps towards that juggling act.

Expanding:
Now you have learned your craft, honed your skills, and have finally begun to see a positive cash flow in your business. Now and ONLY now is the time to start expanding your empire. But wait! Don’t rush off and now join 15 more programs. That’s just firing up those chainsaws again. Find another opportunity, that compliments what you have already become successful at, and start working with that program. You will still have to pay attention to the first one, but it should be set up and running smoothly enough for you to divert “some” of your attention to a new opportunity.

Use this formula “Rinse and Repeat”, and you will grow your multiple streams of income, without the risk of getting a few digits cut off along the way. Are there going to be mistakes, failures, and near misses along the way? Of course there is. Even the top internet GURU’s can’t hit a homerun with every swing. But with Focus, Determination, and above all else Patience, you will see your dreams come to fruition.

A Common Marketing Mistake

Do You Listen To Too Many Experts And Go In Too Many
Directions?

A very common problem that can mean death for
your business.

A lot of successful people out there are telling you how you can be successful
just like them! Most of these people really are successful. However they all
have different areas of expertise and different areas in which they are successful.

You are constantly tempted to fall into the trap of buying every program
that looks promising in the hopes that the next thing you buy will be
“The Thing” that will turn your business around for you and finally make
you successful! (Sound familiar?) Believe me…thousands and thousands
of marketers make this very mistake everyday!

You read what “Expert #1″ is teaching you to do. You’re all geared
up to start taking action with this process. Then the next great course
comes along and your focus and attention shift that way. Now you become
confused, and begin feeling like you will never be successful. You keep
looking for someone or something that will make things clear to you and
help you get started.

It’s a vicious cycle!

You keep looking at more products, and more products and wonder if
you should yet again invest in another ebook or course. Sometimes, it is
an issue of money…you’re drained financially…and you are still not
getting where you want to go. You will never get anywhere as long as
you act like a hamster on a wheel. That’s a miserable place to be!

If this is a picture of you, here is what you need to do.

First, own up to the fact that this really is what you are doing in your
business…you’re acting like a hamster on a wheel going round
and round. Don’t think you’re special in this…it’s happening to
wayyyyy more people than you could imagine. You’re not alone!

Decide that today you are getting off that wheel!!!!!

It’s not going to be easy, because the urge to buy another info
product will still be there and you will have to fight it. It kind of
becomes an addiction. You want to keep buying program after program.

Most of these courses have their uses. They are great for learning
Money-making secrets to use in your business AFTER it is already
making money. These guys are all going in slightly different directions. It is
best if you are on a solid road to success and making money before you
begin adding extra ideas into your business.

What Should You Do?

You ask “How do I know what I should be doing?”

Ask yourself these questions;
“What do I already know?”
“What have I already made money with (even if it’s just 1 buck)?”
“What do I feel most comfortable doing?”
“What seems doable for me with my current interests and
skills?”
“What project(s) or websites do I already have?”

These are the places you need to start working from. Work what you already
have. There is no magic formula, or magic program that is going to “make”
you successful. YOU have to make YOU successful.
Get off the hamster wheel and create a proper plan for your business!
