Busy Business Owner

Busy Business Owner

Do you think like an Employee or a Business Owner? There is a significant difference here. Everyday new people venture into Network Marketing. Many are trying to replace a lost income, or are simply trying to find an avenue to escape their 9 to 5 existence.

Most of these people have never been Business Owners in their lives. They have always been Employees. For the majority of Employees, there is one fundamental thing they all have in common. They are a “piece” of the System that makes up the company that they work for. Being a piece of an in place operating system brings along with it several pitfalls of mindset.

As an Employee, your company tells you what time you must be at work. How long your lunch break is. How many vacation days you can have. What holidays you will have off. And the biggest kicker, How much money you can make. An Employee has set guidelines, procedures, and methods typically pre-determined by the company. Remove that person, and replace them with another, with similar knowledge, and the System barely notices the change.

The Business Owner on the other hand, is the one responsible for creating, testing, and implementing these various guidelines, procedures, and methods, so that the company is highly competitive in the marketplace, and runs with peak efficiency. They are the person who must make the crucial Daily, Hourly, Minute to Minute, crucial business decisions.

As a Business Owner, you must have the ability to set your own work schedule, and adhere to that schedule consistently. You don’t have a time clock to punch. You must rely on your own motivation, your own dedication, your own determination, to set and adhere to your own working hours. There is not going to be anyone to monitor you, and to give you a warning when you are late, of when you have laid out of work for the day. Your schedule is yours, and what time you spend effectively, and what time you waste will be entirely your decision.

The Business Owner must also be the one to implement the System in their business. They must rely on themselves to monitor everything for its effectiveness, or its lack of effectiveness. This works, I’ll keep that. This doesn’t work, I’ll scrap that. This kinda works, but I need to improve on it. The Business Owner has to rely on themselves to continually find fresh, creative ways to maintain that flow of eager customers to their doorstep.

Take a look at McDonalds. Do you think that Ray Kroc created and sold thousands of franchises by putting on his apron and cooking up burgers and fries all day? Of course not. Ray succeeded because he was the man with the vision and the plan. He was the one consistently studying, and refining the processes and methods of his system, until he refined it to a point where a handful of High School kids can run each Franchise for the franchise owner.

So, you must ask yourself, “Am I thinking like an Employee, or Am I Thinking Like a Business Owner?” Do I have the ability to “turn off” that employee mentality that says “Lead Me, Lead Me” and “turn on” the business owner’s mindset, that says “Come Follow Me”. There is a lot of new responsibilities required of those that choose the route of Business Owner, and Leader. Take a good look at the way you think about your business and your decisions in it. You can’t afford to fall back into the “follower” position, once you claim the role of leader.
