Search Queries – Laser Focused Search Results (Part 1 of 3)

Search queries, is simply a fancy name for something you probably do 100 times a day. It simply means, whatever term you type into the search bar that you want to find information on.

Most people simply type in a word or a few words into their Google or Yahoo search bar, and hit the enter button. You are then left to decipher the results from there. There can literally be 10’s of millions of results. In this 7 part series, we’re going to learn how to laser focus our searches, so that we find exactly what we are looking for in a matter of seconds.

The first method we’ll look at are “Quoted Phrases”. If you simply add quote marks “ before and after your search term, the search results will return only pages that contain that exact word phrase. Let’s look at an example of this. First we’ll do a standard search for the term How to generate leads

The standard search returns 3,530,000 results.

Now let’s try it again using the quote marks “How to generate leads”

The new result is now only 124,000. A much more focused and relevant search result.

Now let’s do another search on the same subject, but this time we want to be specific as to the types of leads that we want to learn how to generate. For this, we will use the + operator. Let’s say we want to learn how to generate leads for our affiliate marketing business. Simply type in your search as

affiliate +how to generate leads (be sure you do not put a space between the + and the next word)

Our targeted results are 225,000

You can also tell the search engine what you DO NOT want included. This is done with the – Operator

Let’s do a standard search for work at home

Whoaaaa!!! Almost 2.75 BILLION results!!!!

Now let’s trim it down a little. Let’s take Marketing out of the picture and see what we get. Our search phrase will now be work at home –marketing

The result is now 345,000,000. Still a lot, but better than billions.

That’s a lot of info to digest, and play around with for one day. Try them out. Use them to help focus your searches. Save yourself some time. That is always important in this business. Less time, better results. That’s what it’s all about.
