Marketing Creativity- Do You Make Your Business or Simply Copy and Paste It?
What is your approach to the physical building of your business? Do you use your mind and your personal creativity to construct your own posts, websites, articles, advertisements? Or do you take the “easy” way and simply put out whatever it is that is provided by your company replicated site?
Do you write your own blog posts and articles? So many blogs out there consist entirely of “other people’s content” that the blog owner is simply cutting and pasting (and better be giving due credit for) articles and posts that others are writing.
This is fine OCCASIONALY when you run across an exceptionally well written piece, but to fill your entire site with someone else’s content just makes no sense. How does that inspire confidence in someone to want to follow you, or perhaps partner with you? You only have leftovers to bring to the picnic. Your readers/ followers want fresh meat right off the grill.
When your up line sends you messages to “blast” to your list, you do NOT have to cut and paste it word for word. Guess what, your up line is not perfect either, and some of your own ideas may be better suited to the blast. Do a little editing and make the blast fit your own style more closely. When your list reads it, they will recognize the style as coming from you personally, and have much more confidence in the content.
What about your Auto responder follow ups? Do you use the handed to you by the company follow up messages, or do you at least tweak them to again, more closely match your personal style.
Remember that marketing is about branding YOU! Not some company replicated website, or company generated emails. You have to sell the world on YOU!
Look closely at the things your company provides you. They are still very valuable pieces of your company structure, but you have to “brand” them to make them YOURS. Learn from them, alter them, and ultimately, come up with your own totally unique messages, ads, and websites. The only way that you will get ahead in this industry is to be able to raise your voice above the crowd and be heard.
You simply cannot do that through replication. You must do it through innovation. Be unique. Stand out. Be different, better, funnier, more interesting, than the rest of the “herd”.
Whether it is creating and building something physically with your hands that is unique to you, or whether it is bits and pieces of written word, and code, thought up by you from the ether, and simply typed into that little box in front of you, creating new ideas, visions, sounds, etc. using nothing other than the power of your mind to create and assemble it, it is an exciting, and awesome feeling when someone else takes note of it, and says “hey, good job there”.
So stop cutting and pasting your business future. Start actively creating it with your own mind and your own talents. This is the stuff that success is made of.

Hi Steven,
Well written blog post and a very good point. I have following into that trap of using other peoples work.
I like you blog theme, I use it myself and teach other people to use it.
I decided a couple days ago to use the same theme but different url’s for the different products I market. I don’t have my main site, which is http://duanespears.com, switched over yet.
I market nutritional products as well as hosting and blog creation and presently they are joined, but will separate them over the next couple of days. I will need to create a new video.
Keep up the good work.
Here is my newest blog. http://rosalindandduane.com
Respectfully,
Duane
