Internet Marketing – Do You Make These Advertising Mistakes?
Internet Marketing advertising is a keystone tool in your business. That said, why do so many marketers make simple, silly, “not paying attention” mistakes?
Have you ever come across an interesting email ad, click on it, only to get a 404 File not Found message? How frustrating this is for the potential visitor. They were actually taking the time to visit you, but you were too rushed to get something else done, and didn’t check your link before you sent the message.
You’ve not only wasted the visitors time, but you also wasted your own time, and resources in creating a useless ad.
Here is another common mistake made primarily by “newbies” to Internet Marketing. You click on their ad link, and get either a “domain does not exist” message, or many times find yourself on the “GoDaddy.com” website looking at a message saying this site is parked here for free. The poor “newbie” in their excitement to get their word out to the world, forgot , or did not know how, to activate their domain name to a server. Again, more wasted time.
Next come Flash Animations. It is a proven marketing fact, that you have on average about 3 to 5 seconds to capture your prospects attention, and get a message in their brain to keep reading.If it takes 20 seconds for your page to load because of all the Flash and Videos…… that visitor has already moved on to someone else’s site in that amount of time.
Even if the page does load quickly, what is the flash doing besides getting in your face, and actually diverting your attention AWAY from the real intent, the real message, the real call to action?
And finally there is Audio. This is becoming a big hit in Internet Marketing ads latley. When you click on a link, and suddenly your speakers are screeching at full volume, with a message that sounds like a carnival barker selling tickets to the freak show…….”CLICK”……. that person is gone from all that noise. Audio is a good thing, when used to explain an idea, or to state your business in a professional manner.
But when it only says “HEY, OVER HERE, LISTEN TO ME BLAB ON ABOUT NOTHING SO YOU DON’T REALLY GET MY MESSAGE” You have once again just wasted a lot of time and resources for a useles ad.
So take your time with this important task. Put some thought into it, and make people WANT to continue to read, or to listen to what you have to say.
